Complex Number

1. It is a number consisting of a real part and an imaginary part.

a.Real part – it is a quantity along quantinum,example an integer (5 /-5),rational number (3/4) etc.

b. Imaginary part / imaginary number  -It  is any number whose square is a real number less than zero. Imaginary numbers have the form bi where b is a non-zero real number and i is the imaginary unit, the square of an imaginary number is always negative. example, i 2 = −1

2. An imaginary number bi can be added to a real number a to form a complex number of the form a+bi, where a and b are called, respectively, the "real part" and the "imaginary part" of the complex number

3. Example, −3.5 + 2i is a complex number.

4. The real number a of the complex number z = a + bi is called the real part of z and the real number b is the imaginary part.

5. They are denoted Re(z) and Im(z) respectively.
