Operational -Amplifier /OP-Amp

1. It is an integrated circuit that amplifies the 2 input voltages and produce a single output.

2. An op-amp produces an output voltage that is hundreds of thousands times larger than the voltage difference between its input terminals.

3. Op-amps are among the most widely used electronic devices today, being used in a industrial, and scientific devices.

4. The OP-Amp requires dc power as all transistor circuit.,Noted that, transistor can act as switch and also as amplifier.Hence,OP-Amp is categorized as transistor.
5. The ideal OP-Amp has the following characteristics :
 a.The input current in each lead,is 0
b.The voltage gain A is independent of frequency-it can work at any frequency.
c.The voltage gain A is very large, approaching infinity.

6.The symbol for ideal OP-Amp as in figure 2 :

7. An ideal Operational Amplifier basically has three-terminal device which consists of two high impedance inputs, one called the Inverting Input, marked with a negative sign, ("-") and the other one called the Non-inverting Input, marked with a positive plus sign ("+").The third 1 is the output that act as amplification. It is known as amplifier gain (A).
